This original advance poster was produced for the early marketing campaign of Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction and distributed by Miramax in 1994.
Before the now-iconic Uma Thurman theatrical artwork dominated the campaign, Miramax released a small series of advance posters designed to build intrigue around the film’s release. The “OCTOBER” dictionary-definition poster is among the most distinctive of these pieces, presenting the word pulp in a typographic format that echoes the sensational language of mid-century pulp novels.
The poster comes from my personal archive. I worked at Miramax during the period when Pulp Fiction was released, and this piece was retained from the studio’s original promotional materials.
Today, the October advance poster is widely sought by collectors of film ephemera and Tarantino memorabilia for its minimalist design and connection to the film’s earliest promotional campaign.
